The challenge
- The customer was migrating to Aras and required a highly customised solution.
- The incumbent system integrator partner lacked the technical expertise, and was overestimating both project timelines and costs.
What we did
- Took governance of the project jointly with the customer’s IT team.
- Provided support on the crucial technical challenges.
- Implemented the Aras CI/CD process.
- Implemented access control across the modules.
- Upgraded Aras from V14 to V28.
What we found
The customer was migrating to Aras and needed a heavily customised solution to do it. The obstacle was not the platform but the delivery: the system integrator already in place lacked the technical expertise the work required, and was pricing and scheduling it as though it were larger than it was — overestimating both timelines and costs, which makes every decision after that harder to take.
What we built
The engagement started with governance rather than code. SteepGraph took joint governance of the project with the customer’s own IT team, which put the estimates and the technical decisions somewhere they could be examined. From there the work was specific: support on the crucial technical challenges, implementation of the Aras CI/CD process so changes could move through environments predictably, access control implemented across the modules, and an upgrade of the platform from V14 to V28. Twelve or more PLM consultants were engaged.
