Transitioning from an older version to the latest 3DEXPERIENCE 2021x posed compatibility and integration challenges, particularly with CATIA V5 using Designer Central - CATIA V5 Data Migration with UPS: Migrating CATIA V5 data from Designer Central to the new 3DEXPERIENCE 2021x environment integrated with PowerBy UPS.
- SmarTeam Data Migration for On-Demand Use: Facilitating on-demand data migration between different business units and customers using SmarTeam provisions.
- Identifying Multiple Revisions of Same Reference: The discovery of numerous revisions of a single reference within a root assembly posed a significant challenge.
- Uniform File Names from Designer Central: Data sourced from Designer Central presented a complication where all revisions shared identical file names.
- Compatibility with UPS Integration: The integration with UPS was hindered by its inability to accommodate multiple CAD items sharing identical file names within a single CATIA session, resulting in assembly opening errors.
- Data Inconsistency in Designer Central: Inconsistencies within the data retrieved from Designer Central further compounded the challenges.

Mapping attributes encountered notable challenges, complicating the integration process.
Solution We Provided
- Phase 1 – Successful Upgrade to 3DEXPERIENCE 2021x: Executed the upgrade process, addressing compatibility issues and ensuring seamless integration with CATIA V5 via Designer Central in the new environment.
- Phase 2 – CATIA V5 Data Migration Using PowerBy UPS: Steepgraph leveraged PowerBy UPS technology to facilitate the migration of CATIA V5 data from the legacy system (Designer Central) to 3DEXPERIENCE 2021x.
- SmarTeam Data Migration Strategy: Implemented customized data mapping and transformation processes to facilitate seamless migration from SmarTeam to 3DEXPERIENCE 2021x using UPS technology.
- Assembly Reference Correction:
- Identified multiple revisions of the same reference in a root assembly.
- Manually corrected assembly references across all 25 assemblies to ensure they reflect the latest revisions.
- Data Loading from Designer Central:
- Discovered that all revisions from Designer Central had identical file names.
- Resolved by modifying the code to enable consistent loading of the latest structure despite file name duplications.
